Honeycomb Cellular Shades

Cellular Shades I Honeycomb Shades

Cellular shades (also known as cellular blinds or honeycomb blinds) are window coverings that block heat from entering a home or office. They work by holding trapped air inside the treatment and creating a barrier between the window surface and the room.

Honeycomb shades are called just that for a reason! These shades look like and are constructed like a honeycomb!

Cellular Shades

These shades can be constructed as single, double, or triple-cell shades. As your shade thickness increases, it will raise the R-value of the window treatments. Cellular shades are made from soft paper or cloth-like materials. (Typically, spun lace and bonded polyester are used to make these specific window treatments.) There are several types of operations, but cordless is safest when you have small children in your home.

Rated # 1 For Most Energy Efficient Window Covering

Cellular shades, also known as honeycomb blinds, are a type of window covering consisting of two layers of fabric. Between them, there are a series of honeycomb-shaped cells. These cells trap air, helping to insulate the window and keep the room temperature more consistent. Our Colorlux Comfortex Cellular Shades offer energy tax credits when paired with a solar-powered charger. See below for tax credit information.

Motorization & Unlimited Design Options

Motorization options are available to make your shades more convenient. This may also be paired with smart home technology. Cellular shades come in different light filtering options as well as blackout depending on how much you would like to enter your home. The downfalls to these window treatments are that they are challenging to clean, they show their age over time, and due to the way they are challenging to construct, they may be more expensive than other options! If you don’t have good UV-resistant windows, you will likely see cord issues after about 3 years, especially when living in SWFL. Additionally, many cellular shades have various features, such as top-down/bottom-up operation. It is ideal for privacy without sacrificing natural light. Cellular shades are available in multiple colors and styles to suit any decor, and they can even be custom-made to fit difficult window sizes. They are a versatile window treatment option that will provide you with years of use.

Southern Exposure uses high-quality products – always! We may not always be your cheapest option but we do always promise to be the most quality and reasonable option!

Elegant & Graceful

There are many advantages of cellular shades.

They are very energy efficient, providing a barrier between the hot sun and your cool home in the summer and vice versa in the winter. Cellular shades also insulate against sound, making them ideal for bedrooms and other quiet areas of the home.

Easy Installation Process

Installing cellular shades is a reasonably straightforward process you can complete in a few simple steps. The first step is identifying where you would like to install the shade. Using a tape measure, mark out the area on the window where you want to install the shade. Ensure you leave enough space around the window’s edges to secure the shade appropriately. Using a power drill, create pilot holes at each mark around the edge of the window. These pilot holes will make it easier to insert the screws that will secure the shade in place. In each pilot hole, put a screw and tighten it until it is snug. Once all screws are in place, your cellular shade should be securely installed and ready to use! We offer free installation when you purchase every shade, or we can also provide installation services for your already-bought shades!
